by Edward Falkenberg, R.C.A.
“Connect” is a very powerful
sculpture representing the many disciplines being studied at
the university. It symbolizes the connection between business,
industry, government, technology, education, and the
university, as well as the many partnerships the university has
established within the community. Its segments are joined
together to form a whole, the whole being greater than the sum
of its parts.
“Connect” is also a symbol of
the cycle of life and the cycle of continuous learning. It
stands as a monument to the dynamic ideas embodied by the
University of Ontario Institute of Technology.
“Connect” was installed
July 22, 2004 at UOIT, Oshawa, Ontario.

Congratulations to April Polak
On June 11, 2003, PRAC President, April
Polak, was honoured with a Community Partnership Award for the
arts at the Ajax Civic Awards presentation. This was the first
time an award of this natue had been presented and PRAC was
delighted that April was the first recipient.
April has a longstanding background as a
artist and a volunteer in the arts community. On this night,
April’s family, and friends (PRAC related and otherwise)
were there to applaud and be counted as those who appreciate
all April’s efforts to bring the arts to the forefront in
Ajax and in Region of Durham.
Hurray for April!
