Through sculpture, painting and drawing, Jaime Angelopoulos and Derrick Piens play with form and gesture in ways that reference the human body, evoke emotion and create imagined environments to be explored and experienced. This exhibition will look at the relationship between their respective practices and investigate the narratives that emerge in the context of the Anthropocene period.

Whitevale School of the ArtsHave you ever dreamed of carving a totem pole? In a four day class Lloyd Thomas will take you through that great West Coast adventure. You will start with a 4 ft. cedar pole and using a hatchet and mallet rough out 2 West Coast figures (eagle, bear, raven, wolf, beaver or owl), then progress to using large flat chisels. The detail work continues with a knife, followed by staining and painting, allowing you to go home with a finished pole.

The gallery will display and array of fall coloured art in many art disciplines such as painting, drawing, sculpture, photography and mixed medias. All the artists are local to the Durham Region. There will be no ghosts on this walk, but there will be a lot of spirit!
A Spirit Walk: Call to Rebellion is Durham Region's longest-running, award-winning original play about the Rebellion of 1837! A Spirit Walk tells the story of Pickering's early settlement, the growing seeds of political and social discontent in Upper Canada, and the consequences of the rebels' decisions to take up arms. The evening includes a candle lit walk from scene to scene through the site lead by an actress in the role of Peter Matthews' widow, Hannah Matthews.

VACCOAF VAC(COAF) is a summer festival presented by the Visual Arts Centre of Clarington. Aligning with Culture Days 2018, COAF is a platform that connects people of all ages and backgrounds in a creative place for learning and discovery.
Clarington Outdoor Art Festival is an outdoor arts festival of fine art, music, and local food. The event serves three purposes: To celebrate the national Culture Days; to show appreciation for the local art community by providing a platform to exhibit and sell art; to bring the community together for a day of learning and discovery. We look to introduce artists and audiences from diverse communities to each other and create an inclusive space where ideas are exchanged, questions are asked, and connections are made.
